As per the new IT rules, 2021, the social media intermediaries and significant social media intermediaries will now have to appoint Grievance officers and provide a grievance redressal mechanism to help the individuals( who are using the platform) in getting their issues resolved with regard to the violation of Content Policies as provided. These new rules also require the significant social media intermediaries to appoint a Resident grievance officer and nodal officer to help the law enforcement and as well as the individuals, in faster resolutions of requests.
